I always liked the burgers. Since I heard that Burger King has entered India and especially Mumbai, I wanted to try it out. After reading an ad in the newspaper that Burger King has opened a new outlet in Phoenix mills, Lower Parel, I thought of trying it out. Went there with 2 of my friends. Outlet is just beside McDonald’s. Looks small from outside but has even a floor above. Ordered 4 varieties of burgers with 2 of them being medium combos. Chicken whopper (one with and other without cheese slice), Mutton whopper, Chicken chili cheese melt, and Chicken tandoor grill. Service was bit on slower side, I had to wait for quite a while to get my orders. They should learn this from McD.
Now coming to the actual food, the Chicken whopper was excellent in taste and big in size. Bigger than the biggest of McD. If I compare, it is just like a bigger version of Chicken mcgrill. The quality of the bun was also nice, fresh, and soft. Cost of Rs. 119 + taxes. Totally worth it. Overall 5/5 for it.
Mutton whopper: Excellent flavors. Better than chicken whopper. 4.5/5.
Chicken tandoor grill: Another winner with excellent taste. Just like eating a burger version of chicken tandoori. The chicken was perfectly cooked and had great taste. Cost – Rs. 129 + taxes. Another must try. Overall 5/5 for this one as well.
Chicken chilli cheese melt – This one was also very good. Flavor was good and cheese added to the flavor. Chily out here is the jalepeno peppers. Cost Rs.89 + taxes. Overall 4/5.
Cheesy Italian fries – Good flavors, but nothing great. Sauces are such that not too many people would like it. Xtra long Mexican veg burger: Very very dry and least amount of sauces in it. It was very spicy and has lot of kidney beans inside. It had no vegetables inside. They should make it juicier. Not recommended at all. Do not try this one at all.
Xtra long Mexican non-veg burger: Again very dry and with no vegetables. Sauce was nothing great. They should make it juicier. Not recommended.(Reducing rating from 4.5 to 4 because of these two burgers)
Cheesy Chicken fries – Good in flavor. Chicken and cheese added some good taste to fries. 3.5/5.
To summarize Burger king is a great alternative and competitor to McDonald’s. I found it better than McD in taste, but a bit higher on price. But loved excellent flavorful burgers out here. Will definitely visit this place again and again.
Big boss chicken whopper: Excellent burger, very juicy and a must-try. Just better than regular chicken whoppers. Rs. 169, but still worth a try. 4.5/5 on taste.
Update: My recent order with burger king has been opposite to my previous experiences. Thrice it has happened to me that the burgers patty were so oily that oil actually used to soak the tissue paper and grease my fingers. This is the reason why I am now reducing the rating to 3.5.
Chicken Makhani Burst Burger: It was a burger with a chicken patty inside and a spicy makhani sauce which was unexpected. The taste of the burger was exclusively due to the sauce, which was unique and very good. If you like spicy stuff then you will like this. 4/5 on taste.
Chicken Crunchy Volcano: It was a hard-shell taco with shell tasting like a paratha from seekh paratha shops. Inside there were some sauces, veggies, and chicken patty. The taste was good. 3.5/5 on taste.
Veg Crunchy Volcano: Similar to chicken crunchy volcano but with veg patty. The taste was decent and nothing great. 3/5 on taste.
Chicken Peri Peri Whopper: The flavor was good but not great. The peri peri flavor was on subtle side. 3.5/5 on taste.
