I have been wanting to go to Oh! Calcutta since so many months now and this one fine day I made a visit to this place along with few friends of mine.
The restaurant is big with good interiors. The staff was helpful and gave us good service.
We ordered many items from the menu according to out liking and even some vegetarian dishes as one of the friend was a vegetarian.
Gondhoraj Salad: It was having vegetables and dressing with sesame in it. The taste was decent but it was prices only at Rs. 95 which is one of the cheapest salads I have seen ever. 3.5/5 on taste.
Gondhoraj Paneer: Big pieces of paneer with sweetish flavor of malai. It was great in flavor. Paneer was soft and tender. We liked this dish so much that we ordered it twice but the taste of the paneer in the 2nd order was not as good as the first one. 4.5/5 on taste for the 1st order.
Nizami Murgh Malai Tikka: Super tender chicken with mild flavor of malai. Excellently made chicken. It was among the best ones I have ever had. 5/5 on taste.
Gondhoraj Bhapa Murgi: It came in a leave bag and inside there was chicken which looked like chicken paste. the flavor was of ginger and garlic paste. The overall taste of the dish was mild but I found it totally unique and something which is different from most I have had. 4.5/5 on taste.
Grand Trunk Chicken: It was chicken in spicy gravy but not too spicy. This was the most typical spicy Indian tasting dish of the lot and goes very well with the paratha. 4.5/5 on taste.
Freshwater Betki in Sesame Sauce: It was having fish in sesame sauce. The taste of the fish was good and so was that of the sesame sauce. We even ordered rice to have with the gravy. Overall taste of this dish was predominantly sesame. It was good but not something I would like to eat repeatedly. 4/5 on taste.
Laccha Paratha: The paratha was made of wheat flour and it was well cooked with super soft texture. The taste was that of typical wheat laccha paratha. 4/5 on taste.
Pudina Paratha: It was a laccha paratha with no flavor of pudina at all. I could see some chopped green pudina on top of it, but it gave no flavor to the paratha. 3/5 on taste.
Naan: Typical average naan. 3.5/5 on taste.
Gurer Malai Chomchom: It was soft and slightly sweet. Best among the sweet dishes we ordered. 4/5 on taste.
Nolen Gurer Rosogulla: It was rasgulla with slight hint of jaggery flavor.
Bhapa Sondesh: It was like a mithai we get in sweet shops. The flavor was mainly of the mildly sweet aftertaste. 4/5 on taste.
Gurer Talsans: It was hard in texture and none of us really liked the flavor o it. 3/5 on taste.
Non-Veg Bento Box: It had a chicken dish which was very good in taste. The chicken was not among the tender ones I have had but it is ok as it was compensated by the flavor of the gravy. The potato dish was also good in taste. Kolkota fish fry was excellent and one of the best I have ever had. It was so good that I called up the restaurant to ask about the name of the fish. The chicken cutlet was also excellent in taste. Fish cooked in leaf with a lot of mustard paste was good in taste. Payesh was like kheer and good. Puri was good and went well with all the dishes. The daal was unique and a mix of Gujarati and typical north Indian yellow daal. Overall, one of the best meal boxes I have had. 5/5 on taste.
Veg Bento Box: It had a cutlet that was well cooked, crispy from outside and soft inside. The taste was good. Inside the steamed lead, there was what looked like paneer bhurji cooked in mustard sauce. It was good. The veg dish was decent in flavors but there was another one made of probably soya kebabs and it was excellent. Overall a great meal box again. 4.5/5 on taste.
Chingrir Cutlet: Cripsy from outside and great flavors inside. 4.5/5 on taste.
Overall a great experience with this restaurant and I would really like to visit this place again to try out more items.
