I have been wanting to have food from Zaffran since many years but never really got a chance. One fine day during the Covid-19 lockdown I saw a listing of it on Zomato and thought of ordering something. The menu was extensive.
Butter Chicken Roll: It was a chef special and that is the reason I ordered it. It was wrapped in a rumali roti and it was a thick wrap. Inside there was chicken which was perfectly cooked and tender. Also, there was butter chicken masala with excellent flavours. Overall, the taste of the wrap was excellent and one of the best ones I have had. The price was also perfect according to me looking at the quality and size of the wrap. It cost me Rs. 200 after discounts. 5/5 on taste.
Chicken Royale Curry Meal: The main thing about this dish I ordered was the price. It cost me Rs. 450. It was expensive just at first glance but I thought of ordering it anyways as I wanted to see what they are providing in such an expensive meal. It had murgh musallam, dal makhani, zaffrani pulav, roti and Gulab jamun. The murgh musallam was good in taste and went well with roti but neither was anything out of the box. Zafrani pulav was good in taste and like kashmiri pulav I have had. It was a bit on the oilier side but overall nice and subtle flavours. Daal makhani was good in taste but it did not go well with roti or pulav. It lacked the smokiness of Faasos daal makhani. Kurmuri Tikki was decent in flavours. 4/5 on taste but 3/5 on value for money.
Non-Vegetarian Mixed Grilled Meal: It had 3 types of tikkas. Chicken Tikka, chicken malai tikka and another yellow coloured chicken tikka which was the best. All three flavours were great with super tender chicken. Kurmuri Tikki was also incredibly good in texture and taste. Daal makhani was decent. Overall a great meal box with great flavours.
Paneer Makhani Roll: Tender paneer and decent in flavours. 3.5/5 on taste.
Vegetarian Royale Biryani Meal: It had paneer tikka biryani, kurmuri tikki and daal makhani. Paneer tikka biryani was good in flavours but nothing great. 4/5 on taste.
Chicken Malai Tikka Roll: Super tender chicken malai tikka in a roll. But as there were hardly any sauces the taste was very mild. 4/5 on taste.
Royale Vegetarian Curry Meal: It had butter chicken, zaffrani pulav, dal makhni, alu tikki, roti, and gulan jamun. The taste of each dish was great and very flavorful. 4.5/5 on taste.
Overall a wonderful experience with this restaurant and I would definitely update this review as I order more items in the future.
